You don’t need an invitation to do the right thing

A HUGE Thank you to David Wichman, lifelong Webster Groves resident, for donating his van to Welcome Neighbor STL to be used for donation pick ups and to transport families. David and his daughter Liz recently drove the van from Columbia, MO to donate it. Below is a message from David about why he donated the van.

"I have a very high degree of respect and admiration for these refugees. It is difficult to imagine the courage and confidence that was required to take their family and leave for an unknown new world. As I have met these new American citizens, I am awed by their attitude. They are all smiling and cheerful, ready for the new challenges. The children are delightful. They are bright eyed and not at all awed with their new opportunities. I expect that these new people will, over the next few decades, bring much needed energy and confidence to our American way. The work that you and your fellow volunteers are doing is beyond measure. It is a beautiful example of the American Spirit. I have watched as new American citizens complete the Naturalization Ceremony and I am brought to tears.

Thank you Maddy and Welcome Neighbor for this opportunity to help others. The dividends are sure to be priceless."
We have an exciting opportunity for you to support refugees and take some of the stress out of your Easter festivities! 🐰🧺🌷

As a fundraiser, @startstl students will come to your house and hide pre-filled eggs in your yard the night before Easter.

This is an easy way to support local refugees in a way that also benefits you! Even if you don't have little kids, think about your grandkids, neighbors, or any family going through a hard time. This would be a fun surprise in the morning for any family. πŸ’›

The biggest thank you to Nick Panneri and his son. The pair responded to our post about needing someone to pick up some furniture and deliver it to an Afghan family who had recently lost everything in a building fire.

Nick borrowed a box truck from his employer at Enterprise and picked up and delivered the donations!

The family is so thankful for the living room furniture and mattresses they delivered. Thank you to the people who donated the items and to Nick and his son for making a difference in their lives! πŸ’œ
Ramadan Mubarak to our Muslim friends in St Louis and to Muslims around the world!
