You are invited to a Welcome Neighbor STL drive-thru supper club event to support immigrant and refugee families in St. Louis. These events help rebuild lives and rebuild hope for the cooks who share their talents and culture. The ripple effect of these events reaches the volunteers who assist, and the generous supporters who continually nurture this endeavor.
Immigrant chefs and WNSTL volunteers will prepare your meal and deliver a 5-course Syrian lunch directly to your car with a wide smile and heartfelt thank you.
These meals present an opportunity for immigrant and refugee families to share knowledge and skills unique to them. It is also an opportunity for us to get a glimpse into their culture. These fundraising efforts can set them on a path of greater independence and confidence in their lives here in in the USA. We are appreciative of our past and future supporters who feed our soul and we hope we return the favor.
Drive up to pick up your to-go Lunch on Saturday, April 20th from 11 am – 1:00 pm at Webster United Methodist Church – 600 n Bompart Avenue, St. Louis Mo 63119. Our volunteers will bring your dinner directly to your car.
The menu is $40 and contains:
HUMMUS:
A dip made of chickpeas, garlic, lemon, tahini, and olive oil. Served with pita bread.
YALANJI:
A grape leaves stuffed with rice, Mediterranean spices, and lemon juice..
TABOULEH:
A finely chopped salad made with parsley, lettuce, tomato, cucumber and bulgur. Mixed with lemon juice and olive oil.
CHICKEN SHAWARMA SANDWICH:
Chicken, mayonnaise, and pickles, wrapped in pita bread.
BAKLAVA:
A rich, sweet dessert pastry made of layers of filo filled with chopped pistachios or walnuts and held together with honey and sugar syrup.

Welcome Neighbor STL is partnering with Katkin to offer a PASHTO and DARI Servsafe class that meets the nationally accredited Food Handler courses and health department requirements nationwide.
This class will help the participants learn how to handle food correctly, which is not only the law but also improves safety and lowers costs.
The class is free for Afghan refugees, and Welcome Neighbor STL has covered the enrollment cost.
The class will take place at Welcome Neighbor STL, located at 4200 Delor Street, St. Louis, MO 63116 on Saturday, April 27, 2024, and will start at 9:30 a.m. The class lasts 2 to 3 hours.

Welcome Neighbor STL (WNSTL) has a new home! Please join us for our Open House to see the new space and learn more about our programs that support newly arrived immigrants and refugees. Sample food, purchase savory and sweet treats, help us build our Welcome Kits, and learn how you can help our efforts. Tour our rooms including a children’s activity room, community meeting space, our donations area, and our collaborative office space.
SYRIAN HUMMUS WITH PITTA FOR $7

INDIAN SAMOSA – 2 PIECES FOR $7
A fried dish with a savory filling, such as spiced potatoes, onions and peas.
AFGHAN KULCHA COOKIES – 2 PIECES FOR $5
A delicious biscuit made of flour, rice flour, eggs, milk, butter, cacao powder, cardamom, vanilla, and walnut.
AFRICAN MELKTERT (MINI PIE FOR $4)
A milk tart is similar to a creamy custard pie and sprinkled with cinnamon. Made of butter, eggs, sugar, all-purpose flour, concentrated milk, 2% whole milk, corn starch, and vanilla.

Lockwood Ave. Saint Louis, MO 63122 to support immigrant and refugee families in St. Louis. Enjoy food, conversation, and catching up with friends – old and new. Carrot salad with Moroccan charmoula (Marinade of Herbs and Spices: cilantro, parsley, garlic, olive oil, and cumin).
APPETIZER:
Veggie briwats stuffed with vegetables, herbs and spices.
ENTREE:
Sweet chicken tagine with caramelized onion, dried Apricots, dried prunes, olive oil, herbs, and spices.
SIDE:
Loubia: Zesty and saucy Moroccan Stewed white beans with tomatoes, and spices.
DESSERT:
Coconut macaroons: Gluten-free friendly macaroons made of Coconut, Vanilla, Sugar, and Eggs.

BOLANI:
A popular street food and a crowd pleaser. Flatbread made of unleavened dough that is stuffed and pan fried, but its real beauty comes from the vegetable stuffing inside. Typically, the dough is stuffed in a variety of ways including mashed potato, or green and red lentils, leeks or chives, or pumpkin.
KABULI POLAW:
Basmati rice cooked with onion, saffron, black pepper, cardamom, coriander, and cumin. Topped with raisins, nuts and julienned carrots.
MANTU (AFGHAN DUMPLING):
Similar to a wonton dumpling and filled with lentils, tomatoes, onion, beef, coriander, and cumin. Drizzled with yogurt and tomato sauce.
ASHAK:
Fresh pasta filled with scallions, leeks and cilantro. served with yogurt/garlic sauce. Seasoned with coriander, turmeric and cayenne pepper, sprinkled with mint.
GOSH E-FIL:
Known as elephant’s ear is a fried sweet pastry with dough made from flour, milk, eggs, and sugar. These crunchy pastries are also sprinkled with powdered cardamom, icing sugar, and crushed pistachios.
